Support Zimbabwe's government in implementing its Food Deficit Mitigation Strategy (FDMS) (24-RR-WFP-033)

Project overview

The main objective of this WFP project is to support Zimbabwe's government in improving food security for rural areas affected by the El Nino-induced drought through the Food Deficit Mitigation Strategy (FDMS). This project provides logistical support for the timely delivery of 59,000 metric tons of grain to districts such as Umguza, Mangwe, Chivi, and others. Since April 24, WFP coordinates with the Department of Social Development and the Ministry of Public Service, Labor, and Social Welfare to manage grain movement and storage by the Grain Marketing Board (GMB), aiming to meet the urgent food needs of vulnerable families.
