Project overview
The main objective is to ensure that children and women at risk of malnutrition due to the El-Nino drought receive adequate nutrition in affected districts in three provinces of Zimbabwe. UNICEF's activities prevent increased wasting in 8 affected districts, enhance early detection and treatment of wasting through community-based surveillance, and monitor nutrition levels as the hunger gap approaches. The project expands Care Groups and strengthens multi-sectoral interventions, scales up social behavior change activities, and conducts continuous mid-upper arm circumference (MUAC) tape screenings and referrals to ensure early identification and treatment of malnutrition. UNICEF targets 88,600 people, including 3,500 women, 85,000 children, and 30 people with disabilities.
