Project overview

The main objective of this project is to provide multi-sectoral life-saving assistance to individuals affected by the floods and landslides in Burundi. The WASH component includes water trucking, establishing potable water points, constructing and rehabilitating latrines and showers, hygiene and sanitation promotion, distributing WASH kits and holding awareness sessions to make communities more resilient to flooding. The Child Protection component includes psychosocial and mental health support for children and their parents, alternative care and family reunification for separated and unaccompanied children, case management including for GBV survivors, recovering lost birth certificates and supporting community child protection structures. The Health component includes establishing two mobile health posts, providing quality perinatal care and assisted delivery with obstetric ultrasound for pregnant women and enabling access to healthcare in health facilities near displacement sites. The project provides life-saving assistance to 25,000 people, of whom 5,610 are women and 14,001 are children. Additionally, over 500 people with disabilities benefit from this project.
