Project overview

The main aim of this WHO project is to minimize the incidence and mortality associated with cholera in the Lusaka districts by halting the spread of the disease and preventing its extension to unaffected areas. This WHO project provides essential cholera health services and supplies, which includes effective deployment of rapid response teams, distribution of emergency medical and cholera-specific kits, coupled with targeted on-the-job orientation sessions for health workers on the utilization of emergency kits and adherence to patient care protocols at Cholera Treatment Centers (CTCs), Cholera Treatment Units (CTUs), and Oral Rehydration Points (ORPs) in the community. The project provides life-saving assistance to 12,035 people, including 2,768 women, 2,583 men, 6,455 children, and 1,181 persons with disabilities.
