Rapid response to contain cholera outbreak in Somaliland, Puntland, Central and Southern States of Somalia (24-RR-WHO-013)

Project overview

The overall goal of this WHO project is to contain the cholera outbreak in Somalia by stopping active transmission and preventing a large-scale outbreak in urban settings through evidence-based interventions as contained in the activities below. WHO and its partners expand of the disease surveillance network, train health workers to identify and treat cholera cases, distribute cholera kits, set up of oral rehydration points, distribute laboratory diagnostic reagents, distribute job aids, protocols etc., and conduct supportive supervisory visits in collaboration with the ministry of health. A total of 21,200 people, including 10,600 women and girls and 3,180 persons with disabilities, directly benefit from these interventions.
