Emergency response to support 45,000 people affected by acute watery diarrhoea (AWD)/Cholera in Puntland and Central South Region of Somalia (24-RR-CEF-022)

Project overview

The overall objective of the proposed project is to provide life-saving by provision of emergency integrated WASH and health services, focusing on six cholera hotspots in Beletweyne and Jowhar districts (Hirshabelle State), Kismayo (Jubaland State), and Banadir, Garowe, and Bossaso districts (Puntland State). UNICEF and partners provide safe water, rehabilitate water facilities, improve cleaning and disinfection practices, and establish or renovate emergency latrines. Additionally, they will distribute cholera kits, promote hygiene, establish two case treatment centers, set up oral rehydration points, deliver quality case management, and conduct risk communication and community engagement. A total of 45,000 people, including 13,950 women, 6,750 men and 24,300 children, and including 9,000 persons with disabilities, directly benefit from these interventions.
