Project overview
The main objective of this project was to address immediate needs arising from the cholera outbreak in Comoros and to control and curb the outbreak. The Health component included procuring and distributing AWD kits to improve medical care. The WASH component included the deployment of CATI teams for rapid community investigation, active case finding, distributing WASH/cholera kits, household and high-risk area decontamination, door-to-door hygiene awareness and promotion, establishing chlorination points, strengthening community surveillance networks, and strengthening risk communication and accountability to affected people regarding cholera. The project provided life-saving assistance to 86,155 people, of whom 24,171 are women and 19,316 are girls. 1,465 persons with disabilities benefited from this project.
