Emergency protection, assistance, and Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) for vulnerable communities and migrants at risk of human trafficking or other types of violence and abuse (23-UF-IOM-049)

Project overview

The main objective of this project is to mitigate and address the immediate needs of individuals residing in border communities affected by human mobility, as well as vulnerable communities in mining areas. This IOM project provides protection services, such as documentation and access to legal identity orientations to vulnerable individuals and households, consolidation of community empowerment groups and networks to work on the prevention and detection of protection risks, risks associated with mining (sexual exploitation or forced labor) and risks associated with irregular/high-risk migration (particularly human trafficking or smuggling of migrants), among other activities. The project provides life-saving assistance to 23,149 people, including 10,342 women, 4,744 men, 8,063 children, and 1,179 persons with disabilities.
