Project overview

The main objective of WHO’s CERF-funded project was to provide an emergency health response to cholera outbreaks in Mandera, Marsabit, Turkana, Wajir, and Garissa, including refugee camps in Dadaab. The project distributed 267 cholera kits, benefiting 370,920 people, and trained 73 healthcare workers on cholera surveillance, case management, WASH, and infection prevention and control (IPC). Additionally, WHO trained 69 laboratory officers to enhance cholera testing capacity and strengthened outbreak response mechanisms through early warning systems, surveillance, and water quality testing. These interventions improved health resilience, reduced cholera morbidity and mortality, and strengthened the capacity of county health departments.
