Scaling up the delivery of essential health care supplies and services to conflict affected areas in Northern Ethiopia (21-RR-WHO-040)

Project overview

The WHO project supported the scale-up of WHO Ethiopia’s health response and efforts in Northern Ethiopia and contribute to a maximum achievable reduction in morbidity and mortality of the population affected by the ongoing conflict in Tigray, Afar, and Amhara. WHO provided a total 88.5 metric tons of Emergency Health Kits for a total of 555,875 beneficiaries across the three regions of Afar, Amhara, and Tigray. Additionally, WHO provided financial support to maintain previously deployed Mobile health and nutrition teams (MHNTs), 5 of which were in Amhara while 15 were deployed to the Tigray region. A total of 332,724 OPD consultations were reported during the project implementation period by partners supported through the provision of medical supplies and deployment of MHNTs. The project provides life-saving assistance to 544,131 people, including 138,249 women, 129,388 men, 123,833 girls, 152,661 boys, and 96,302 persons with disabilities.
