Project overview
With $23.1 million in CERF funding, WHO and its partners were able to sustain the provision of critical, life-saving medical services in 16 Afghan provinces. Funding channeled through WHO allowed for 1,130 health facilities to continue its operations and paid for the salaries of 14,000 medical and paramedical health workers. In total, the WHO-supported health structures provided more than 6.9 million in- and outpatient health care consultations, including medical support for 108,141 life births, antenatal care for 441,376 pregnant women, vaccinations for 157,085 infants and growth monitoring and Infant and Young Child Feeding campaigns benefitting 862,256 people, among other life-saving activities.
