Risk Management

The Office of Internal Oversight Services (OIOS) in 2010 identified key risks for UN trust funds in relation to operations and external funding streams. These were categorized as loss of legitimacy, loss of financing, loss of knowledge capacity and loss of operational capacity.

In response, CERF as the largest UN general trust fund, developed a Risk Assessment and Mitigation Action Plan to map out initiatives against risk areas, identify potential gaps, and provide mitigation measures. The Action Plan was fully integrated into CERF’s regular workplans and updated on an annual basis. In 2016, OCHA decided to integrate CERF's Action Plan into the organisation-wide annual risk management plan.
