High Level Conference 2017
The Annual High-Level Pledging Conference for the United Nations Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF) will bring together senior representatives from UN Member States and Observers, UN agencies, non-governmental organizations, foundations and the private sector to express their commitments to the fund. The UN Secretary-General, António Guterres, will open the conference and the Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, Mark Lowcock, will chair the event. The conference is an opportunity for Member States to reiterate their support to a stronger CERF that is equipped to address current humanitarian challenges. This event is an opportunity to show solidarity to people most in need by highlighting the role of CERF in promoting early, coordinated response to humanitarian emergencies. The conference will initiate the pledging process for 2018 as part of broader efforts to strengthen the role of CERF.
