CERF Allocation

Niger

Displacement/Migration, 27 Feb 2026

Overview of the humanitarian situation

Insecurity in Niger's Tillabéri region continues to drive large-scale forced displacement. Thousands of people have been displaced since the end of last year due to recurrent attacks, abductions, and forced movements, further heightening protection risks and deepening existing vulnerabilities. Recent assessments highlight WASH, Shelter, Protection and Health as priority areas among the newly displaced. At the same time, a severe nutrition crisis in certain areas of Maradi and Tillaberi is expected to further deteriorate.

CERF-funded assistance

This CERF allocation will provide immediate, life-saving assistance to over 171,000 people in Tillaberi and Maradi regions, in support of government efforts. Life-saving humanitarian assistance will be implemented by UNICEF for WASH and Nutrition, WHO for Health, UNHCR for Protection, and IOM for Shelter and NFIs, together with their partners. Activities include ensuring access to water and to improved health services, distribution of WASH and Shelter/NFI kits, protection monitoring and case management, and management of MAM and SAM cases, among others.
