Project overview

The UNICEF project aims to provide multisectoral emergency assistance to populations affected by tropical cyclones Fytia and Gezani in Madagascar. UNICEF and its partners support the rapid resumption of education for 65,000 students through the provision of learning materials and the disinfection of schools used as temporary shelters, deliver Water, Sanitation and Hygiene services by ensuring access to safe drinking water, hygiene promotion, household water treatment, and improved sanitation, and strengthen child protection systems to prevent and respond to risks of violence affecting children, women, and persons with disabilities in cyclone‑affected areas.The project assists 139,870 people, including 22,443 women, 20,697 men, 50,116 girls, and 46,614 boys. An estimated 12,500 persons with disabilities benefit from this project.
