Project overview
The UNHCR project provides protection related to the impacts of drought and a possible La NiƱa, which worsens drought, food insecurity, and vulnerabilities. The response includes protection desks offering services such as case management, psychosocial support, and individual protection assistance (IPA), along with a fast-track referral mechanism to connect marginalized groups to food security support. Community-based protection initiatives in hard-to-reach areas address child protection and gender-based violence (GBV) and provide dignity kits, ensuring coordinated outreach and protection services in priority districts like Afmadow, Baydhaba, and Diinsor. The project delivers life-saving assistance to a total of 15,000 people, including 4,500 women, 4,500 women, and 7,000 children. An estimated 1,500 people with disabilities benefit from this project.
