Philippines

Storm, 08 Nov 2024

Overview

On 22 October, Tropical Cyclone Trami brought heavy rains across the Philippines, leading to widespread flooding and landslides. Early on 24 October, Trami made landfall in Divilacan, Isabela, as a Severe Tropical Storm, impacting over 7.9 million people across 17 of the country’s 18 regions. More than 700,000 people were displaced, with most staying outside evacuation centers. The number of casualties has reached 151 reported deaths, with 134 injured and 21 missing. The situation was further exacerbated by Tropical Cyclone Kong-rey, which affected several provinces already impacted by Trami, bringing the total affected population to an estimated 8.8 million. On 7 November, Tropical Cyclone Yinxing, the third storm to hit the Philippines in three weeks, damaged seaports and two domestic airport terminals, further complicating recovery efforts from the previous storms.
