Emergency floods response through provision of integrated water, sanitation and hygiene promotion (WASH) services in Somalia (23-RR-IOM-035)

Project overview

The main aim of this $1.2m IOM project is to provide integrated WASH services in Baardhere and Kismayo districts. The project includes the emergency supply of clean and safe water through water trucking for 30 days to 30,000 individuals, followed by the rehabilitation/construction of ten water sources to serve 40,000 individuals, with special focus on women, children, and disabled persons. In addition, 500 flood-proof emergency latrines are being constructed, accessible to people with disabilities. Hygiene promotion activities are targeting 40,000 individuals, prioritizing disease prevention and water treatment. In total, the project targets 40,000 people, including 8,000 women and 14,000 girls, and including approximately 400 people with disabilities.
