Emergency food assistance for refugees and communities affected by Cyclone Freddy (23-UF-WFP-056)

Project overview

The main objective of this project is to provide food security and logistics support, for the benefit of vulnerable communities affected by the current crisis in the Country. This WFP project provides cash transfers for one month at 50 percent rations, to safeguard the food security of this vulnerable group. Moreover, WFP provides transportation of government food commodities in districts requiring high levels of assistance. The Government of Malawi has allocated maize from the Strategic Grain Reserve. However, there are critical gaps in transportation which WFP has been called on to support. The project provides humanitarian assistance to 52,000 people, including 16,078 women, 10,786 men, 25,136 children, and including 5,610 persons with disabilities.
