Project overview
The main objective of this project is to improve Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP) for conflict-affected people living in Mocimboa de Praia district of Cabo Delgado, Mozambique. This IOM-managed collective AAP project serves the broader humanitarian system and affected communities by 1) strengthening common complaint and feedback mechanisms through direct community engagement; 2) establishing common channels for information provision; and 3) providing support to civil society partners and local authorities via joint community dialogue sessions and town halls, among others. The project provides tangible accountability to Mocimboa da Praia residents (particularly recent returnees), reaching at least 30,000 people, including 8,500 women, 16,500 children and 3,400 people with disabilities. This project is part of the special thematic allocation for Accountability to Affected People (AAP) under the 2023 round 2 of the underfunded emergencies (UFE) allocations.
