Project overview
The main objective of WFP's CERF-funded project was to provide school meals to vulnerable children in drought-affected counties of Kenya. Through collaboration with the National Council for Nomadic Education in Kenya (NACONEK), WFP procured 2,709.3 metric tons of food, including maize, beans, and fortified vegetable oil, benefiting 459,203 schoolchildren across 1,347 primary schools, including 6,854 children with disabilities. Additionally, 2,415 school meal programme managers were trained in food management, safety, and accountability. The project improved school attendance, reduced dropout rates, and provided critical support to children in food-insecure regions.
