Project overview
The main objective of this project is to provide education, child protection, nutrition, health, and water, sanitation and hygiene assistance to internally displaced persons, returnees, refugees and host community members in Djugu, Goma, Kalehe, Lubero, Mahagi, Masisi, Nyiragongo, Rutshuru and Walikale. This UNICEF project treats severe acute malnutrition in children, provides access to essential healthcare services for women and children, ensures children have access to education, provides child protection case management services, and improves access to safe drinking water. The water, sanitation and hygiene component of the project provides humanitarian assistance to 167,000 people, including 40,000 women, 35,000 men, 92,000 children, and including 11,250 persons with disabilities. The child protection component provides humanitarian assistance to 30,000 people. The health component provides humanitarian assistance to 24,000 people. The education component provides humanitarian assistance to 5,500 people. The nutrition component provides humanitarian assistance to 4,000 people.
