Project overview
The main objective of this project was to provide early action assistance in the water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), shelter, camp coordination and camp management (CCCM) and health sectors to mitigate the compounding effects of projected severe flooding on vulnerable communities in the Bentiu camp for internally displaced people and surrounding areas in Rubkona county in Unity State. This IOM project equipped and operated static and mobile clinics to provide lifesaving healthcare services, distributed cash and shelter materials in support of at-risk communities, ensured sufficient amounts of safe drinking water were available throughout the rainy season, and secured dry camp sites against future flooding to prevent displacement, among others. The project provided WASH assistance to 101,000 people, shelter assistance to 99,000 people, camp management services to 124,000 people, and healthcare support to 193,000 people.
