Multipurpose CASH for refugee women and girls to access essential hygiene items (22-RR-HCR-021)

Project overview

The main objective of this UNHCR project was to respond to Gender Based Violence in Djibouti for refugee women and girls aged 12 to 49 years to mitigate their risk of and exposure to violence exacerbated by the drought-induced food insecurity, inability to meet basic needs, and disruption of daily life, community and family structures. UNHCR and its partners undertook activities geared towards provision of restricted multi-purpose cash for refugee women and girls to help them meet their basic needs for critical hygiene items and mitigate against GBV risks critical food security interventions for saving life assets of drought-affected and food insecure rural populations through an integrated needs-based approach. The project provided life-saving assistance to 2,574 people, including 592 women, and 1,982 girls.
