Project overview
With this CERF-funded project, IOM responded to the urgent, life-saving needs of flood-affected individuals in areas that saw a significant influx of internally displaced people. Enabling access to safe water and supporting people’s hygiene needs, IOM constructed and maintained eight community water points and 148 latrine blocks, installed and operated three surface water treatment plants, and released essential hygiene items, among other activities, supporting a total of 36,125 people. Additionally, IOM provided 161,390 individuals with shelter support in the form of shelter kits or through unconditional cash transfers while also strengthening dikes around settlements to prevent further flooding, among other disaster risk management activities. Camp management specialists from IOM also constructed and reinforced 23,360 meters of berms to secure sites from further flooding, developed drainages and discharged floodwater away from settlements to protect approximately 58,118 people.
