Addressing WASH and Education needs of children and communities impacted by inter-tribal conflicts in West Darfur (21-RR-CEF-009)

Project overview

This project aims to assure expansion and continuation of multi-sectoral lifesaving humanitarian assistance to people displaced in West Darfur, with particular attention to women and girls. To ensure continuity of and improved access to quality education for 12,192 boys and 8,358 girls from the IDPs and host community, the project will establish or rehabilitate 119 classrooms. Moreover, 510 teachers and assistants will be trained to provide quality education. Furthermore, the project will improve access to water and sanitation in 20 gathering points in both Massalit and Arab tribe communities over the next six months. Water trucking in 20 gathering points will be organized while working on the expansion of town water supply network for more sustainable water supply for the gathering points, many of them are public facilities such as local government office or schools. For nomad communities, five water yards are planned to be built under this project. The project targets a total of 21,059 affected people with its education component and 60,000 affected people with its water, sanitation and hygiene component.
