Health Emergency Response to ensure life-saving primary and secondary healthcare services (21-RR-CEF-044)

Project overview

With $20.9 million in CERF funding, UNICEF and its partners were able to sustain the provision of critical, life-saving medical services in 15 Afghan provinces. Funding channeled through UNICEF allowed 1,031 health facilities to continue its operation and paid for the salaries of 11,046 medical and paramedical health workers. In total, the UNICEF-supported health structures provided more than 7.3 million in- and outpatient health care consultations, including antenatal care to 446,733 pregnant women, vaccinations for 137,023 infants, and growth monitoring and Infant and Young Child Feeding campaigns benefitting 560,000 people, among other life-saving activities.
