Project overview

The main objective of this project is to provide life-saving shelter, basic household item, protection, and sexual- and gender-based violence to refugees, returnees, IDPs and host community members in Ituri (Djugu), Kasai (Kamonia), Kasaï-Central, Nord-Kivu, Sud-Kivu (Fizi, Kalehe, Shabunda) and Tanganyika (Kalemie, Manono). This UNHCR project distributes cash-based transfers to enable households to buy basic household items; distributes sanitary kits; promotes community-based protection mechanisms; provides psycho-social support to SGBV survivors; and improves access to emergency and transitional shelters. The protection component of this project provides life-saving assistance to 189,219 people, including 48,459 women, 105,523 children. The shelter component of this project provides life-saving assistance to 72,840 people, including 19,580 women and 38,500 children. The sexual- and gender-based violence component of the project provides life-saving assistance to 1,394 people including756 women and 437 children.
