The main objective of this project is to provide life-saving nutrition, water, sanitation and hygiene assistance to internally displaced people and host communities. This UNICEF project constructs and restores boreholes to provide fresh drinking water, constructs latrines and shower facilities, installs hand-washing stations, distributions hygiene kits, raises awareness about hygiene and sanitation, screens children for malnutrition, and treats children with severe acute malnutrition. The water, sanitation and hygiene component of the project provides life-saving assistance to 15,000 people, including 3,300 women, 2,700 men, 9,000 children, and 90 people with disabilities. The nutrition component provides life-saving assistance to 3,110 children, including 19 children with disabilities.
