ETC Response to TC Harold, Vanuatu (20-RR-WFP-028)

Project overview

The main objective of this project is to support the emergency response by filling telecommunications gaps by providing shared connectivity services for national responding authorities, humanitarian responders and the affected population. WFP will use CERF funds to 1) deploy internet connectivity and Wi-Fi access services to be for use by the affected population, humanitarian community and responders, and 2) assess and repair transmission towers for VBTC-Radio Vanuatu. Radio Vanuatu is the primary means of communication, including for disaster and emergency information, for the communities on Santo and Pentecost islands. 235,459 people in West Coast Santo, north-east Malekula and south Pentecost will benefit from this project which will be implemented within 6 months.
