The main objective of this project is to reduce the risk of waterborne and water related diseases and micronutrient deficiency and severe acute malnutrition of children under five in targeted communities. With CERF funds, UNICEF 1) provides rehabilitated water supply systems, 2) constructs latrines, 3) distributes essential nutrition supplies and 4) treats children with severe acute malnutrition among other activities. 70,000 people (including 19,600 women, 30,800 children and 7,000 people with disabilities) will benefit from the water, sanitation and hygiene component of this project, and 35,000 people (including 13,000 women, 22,000 children and 3,500 people with disabilities) will benefit from the nutrition component.
