Provision of Emergency Shelter and NFI items for crisis-affected populations in northwest Syria (joint project with UNHCR) (20-RR-IOM-004)

Project overview

As a result of the escalation of military hostilities between armed groups since December 2019, an estimated 689,000 persons have been newly displaced (as of 9 February 2020). This figure is likely to increase given the continued displacement triggered by ongoing fighting. To contribute to addressing such needs, IOM will conduct the following intervention: Emergency Shelter and NFI assistance: IOM will purchase, transport and distribute shelter materials and NFIs through implementing partners to newly displaced persons in northwest Syria. IOM will establish or expand 10 IDP sites with site preparation (including leveling and graveling). Site set-up will include the installation of tents (on average 465 per site) and install basic WASH facilities in each site. Full NFI kits will be distributed to each beneficiary households (1 per HH, on average 465 HHs per site). Overall package of assistance will reach an estimated 23,250 persons in Idleb and Aleppo governorates.
