Project overview

The main objective of this WHO project is to support the scale-up of the health response to the ongoing arrival of refugees from Tigray region in Ethiopia to eastern Sudan, to reduce the morbidity and mortality among the refugees and host communities in Kassala and Gedaref state. Furthermore, the project aims to take early action against the transmission of water and vector-borne diseases in the camps and in the host communities. With CERF funds, WHO supplies essential medicines, medical supplies and diagnostic tests, as well as protective gear and information materials to prevent the transmission of Covid-19 and to protect patients and health workers. To avoid the emergence of waterborne diseases, WHO supplies water testing material and supports water quality testing campaigns. The project targets 78,300 people.
