Project overview

The main objective of this project is to strengthen assistance and protection for new refugees, relocated refugees and new internally displaced people in the regions of Tillabery, Tahoua and Diffa in Niger. This UNHCR project provides multi-sector refugee assistance to 29,004 people, including the relocation of 27,732 Malian refugees and assistance to 1,272 Chadian refugees in the Diffa region by providing 1,400 shelter kits and cash grants to 2,272 households for 3 months. The project further provides general protection and gender-based violence (GBV) assistance to 28,049 internally displaced people by reinforcing protection capacities of authorities and protection actors; provision of legal support and registration of the IDPs; distribution of 541 emergency kits for people with special needs; strengthening of GBV protection structures and capacity of actors; and distribution of 2,000 dignity kits. In addition, 2,000 children will benefit from psychosocial support and access to child friendly spaces. A total of 57,053 people will be targeted with assistance.
