Project overview

The main objective of this project is to safe lives and ensure the well-being of displaced people by improving their access to drinking water, hygiene and sanitation in the Tillabéri region, provide access to quality education for children in the Tillabéri and Tahoua regions, and provide appropriate shelter and basic household items in the Tillaberi, Tahoua and Diffa regions. This UNICEF project provides, among other services, 3,000 emergency shelters as well as shelter construction kits for the most vulnerable people; access to water, hygiene and sanitation including construction of 350 emergency latrines and showers, as well as access to water, sanitation and hygiene for 5,000 children; and emergency education assistance including the construction of 32 temporary learning spaces and 32 emergency latrines, respectively. 21,000 people will be targeted with shelter and basic household items assistance; 19,000 people with lifesaving water, sanitation and hygiene assistance; and 6,936 people with education support.
