Forecast based Anticipatory Early Action to Support Disaster Preparedness for the Flood Affected Vulnerable Households (20-RR-WFP-034)

Project overview

The main objective of this project is to provide life-saving transfer of unconditional cash to flood-prone families in Rangpur (Gaibandha, Kurigram), Rajshahi (Bogura, Sirajganj) and Mymensingh (Jamalpur). In collaboration with the Bangladesh Red Crescent, WFP distributes $53 to each household, to help them meet their essential food and non-food needs in the immediately prior to and immediately following the flooding. The project provides life-saving assistance to 309,500 people, including nearly 93,500 women, 69,000 boys and 65,000 girls.
