Project overview

The main objective of this project is to provide life-saving water, sanitation, hygiene (WASH) and child protection assistance to internally displaced people and host communities in the Boucle du Mouhoun, Centre-Nord, Est, Nord and Sahel regions. This UNICEF project distributes hygiene kits and dignity kits; provides sanitation kits to facilitate waste management and drainage; constructs family latrines as well as latrines in schools and health centres impacted by the crisis; conducts awareness-raising on proper sanitation and hygiene practices; establishes community child protection mechanisms; operates child-friendly spaces providing psycho-social care; strengthens case management mechanisms for the care of children with special needs; and facilitates the protection of children who are victims of abuse, violence and exploitation, including sexual- and gender-based violence. The project provides life-saving assistance WASH assistance to 200,000 people, including 42,136 women and 117,380 children, and life-saving child protection assistance to 18,000 people, including 4,160 women and 10,000 children.
