Lisa Doughten was appointed as the Chief of the CERF secretariat in May 2013. From 2008 until her appointment to OCHA, Ms. Doughten served as a Senior Adviser for UNICEF’s Public Alliances and Resource Mobilization Office- based in New York. She mobilized resources for UNICEF’s humanitarian and development programmes for children in more than 190 countries and territories.
Prior to joining UNICEF, Ms. Doughten served as a Senior Emergency Response Officer for the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), based in Rome, Italy. She managed a project to strengthen WFP’s capacity to respond to emergencies, and she was deployed on long-term emergency missions to Africa and Asia.
Before joining the United Nations, Ms. Doughten was a Senior Manager with a consulting firm based in Washington, D.C. For five years, she managed multi-million-dollar international contracts for the US Agency for International Development (USAID), and she travelled extensively to support emergency operations worldwide. From 1993 to 1998, Ms. Doughten worked throughout the Former Yugoslavia for USAID’s Office of US Foreign Disaster Assistance on the Disaster Assistance Response Team.
Ms. Doughten has worked in more than 30 countries in Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America and the Middle East. She received a Master of Science degree in International Relations from the London School of Economics, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Studies from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill.
